Police Chase Ends With Car Hitting House In Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Police said a man is in custody early Friday morning after a pursuit ended with an SUV crashing into a house in Minneapolis.

The incident took place at about 1 a.m. Friday after the owner of an SUV called 911 after seeing their vehicle get stolen from a Super America in Brooklyn Center.

Authorities said an officer spotted the vehicle at County 10 and Brooklyn Boulevard and began a pursuit. The driver refused to stop and took officers on a high speed chase for about a mile. The driver eventually lost control of the SUV and crashed into a duplex in Minneapolis at 47th Avenue North and Osseo Road.

Police said two people were inside the home when the vehicle crashed, Joseph Cook was one of them.

"I could hear an engine noise actually and all of a sudden after that ... it sounded like a cannon went off," Cook said. "The whole house shook."

Both occupants sustained minor injuries.

Police said the owner of the SUV left the doors unlocked and the vehicle running while inside the gas station.

The driver of the SUV, 18-year-old Sean Brown, is being held in Hennepin County jail awaiting charges.
