Police: Boy, 2, Dies After Falling In Pool

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Police in central Minnesota say a 2-year-old boy died on Monday after falling into a swimming pool.

The Sartell Police Department said its officers responded to a call that a child wasn't breathing after falling into a pool on the 700 block of 2 ½ Street North.

When officers arrived at the scene around 1 p.m., the 911 caller was performing CPR on the child, police said. Officers helped in the lifesaving efforts before emergency crews took the boy to the St. Cloud Emergency Department, where he later died.

The boy's name has yet to be released, but police say he is from Rice, which is about 10 miles north of Sartell.

Police gave no details as to how the child fell into the pool.

The Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office will perform an autopsy on the boy's body.
