Police: Body Found In Coon Rapids Creek

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Authorities are investigating after a decomposed body was discovered in a Coon Rapids creek Friday morning.

Police say the body was found behind the Kwik Trip gas station in a creek near Springbrook Drive and Coon Rapids Boulevard Northwest.

According to Commander Paul Sommer of the Anoka County Sheriff's Office, a witness doing lawn maintenance saw the body in the mud of the creek in the area.

The Anoka County Sheriff's Department said the body, which was very decomposed, was an unidentified adult male.

It is unknown yet if this was a criminal, accidental or natural death.

The Coon Rapids Police Department, the Anoka County Sheriff's Office and the Anoka County Medical Examiner's Office are investigating.
