Roseville Police: 2 Dead In Larpenteur Avenue Pedestrian Crash

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Roseville police are investigating a double fatal pedestrian crash near the St. Paul border Thursday evening.

The crash happened at about 5:30 p.m. on Larpenteur Avenue at Woodbridge Court. Police say a woman and a man were killed when they were hit by a pick-up truck while crossing the intersection.

Police say the driver, a 72-year-old man, stopped at the scene and is cooperating. They are investigating to see if alcohol was a factor in the crash. Investigators are also looking for another driver to come forward.

"We do have some preliminary information that another vehicle may have been driving by at the same time as the vehicle struck the two pedestrians, so if you were driving in Roseville westbound on Larpenteur from Rice Street about 6 tonight, we ask that you'd give us a call because we're trying to figure out exactly what happened," said Roseville Police Chief Rick Mathwig.

At least five apartments are in this area. Some residents told WCCO-TV that it's always been too dark on this stretch of road, and people drive too fast. It is a well-traveled stretch of road where Roseville, Maplewood and St. Paul all come together.
