Police Arrest Suspect In Purse Theft Of Unconscious Woman

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Police have arrested a man Friday accused of stealing a woman's purse after she collapsed in a Brooklyn Center laundromat Tuesday evening.

Brooklyn Center police say Kimberly Elgren-Rheault was incapacitated when a man snatched her purse at Coin Laundry on the 5800 block of Xerxes Avenue Tuesday afternoon.

Elgren-Rheault was hospitalized and released Tuesday night, but passed away in her Brooklyn Center home the next day.

Her family pleaded for the purse to be returned, saying they did not want the money, only some personal mementos inside along with the pictures on her phone.

Police say the phone was recovered from the suspect in the arrest and returned to the family.
