Police: 9-Year-Old Hit By Car In Waite Park

WAITE PARK, Minn. (WCCO) -- A 9-year-old boy hit by a car in Waite Park Thursday evening, according to a police report.

Police say the boy was crossing the street with his mother at the intersection of 2nd Street South and 2nd Avenue South at around 6:20 p.m. They had crossed the eastbound lanes and were waiting for the westbound lanes to clear when the boy got away from his mother and was struck by a westbound vehicle on 2nd Street.

According to the police report, the vehicle was moving at a slower speed at the time of the collision, and the boy only suffered non-life threatening facial injuries.

Police say westbound traffic on 2nd Street was closed for about 30 minutes after the incident.
