Police: 3 Seriously Injured In North Minneapolis Shooting
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Police said three women are hospitalized in serious condition after being shot early Wednesday morning in north Minneapolis.
The incident happened at about 1:30 a.m. outside a home near 36th and Fremont Avenues North. It also comes after two deadly shootings over the Fourth of July Weekend and hours after pleas by Police Chief Janee Harteau and Mayor Betsy Hodges to stop the violence.
When officers arrived, three women were found shot outside the home. All three were taken to North Memorial Medical Center with serious injuries.
Residents in the area are growing tired and frustrated by the violence as city leaders look for ways to bring it to an end.
"I'm not going to say north Minneapolis does not have any bad people, but most of the people in north Minneapolis are good people who just want somewhere safe to live, some place to work that's decent and they want a community they can live in," said Jonathan Palmer with the Follwell Neighborhood Association.
Folwell said he thinks the answer is with community programs and faith communities making a united front.
Police said they believe the shooting Wednesday morning was not random and whoever shot the women knew who they were. There are currently no suspects in custody, and anyone with information should call Minneapolis Police.
