Police: 2 Shot Inside Uber Vehicle On I-394, Suspect Sought

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Authorities are looking for a suspect after two of five women riding home in an Uber vehicle from downtown Minneapolis were shot early Sunday morning.

The Minneapolis Police Department says the incident happened at about 2:30 a.m. on westbound Interstate 394 at Dunwoody Boulevard. Five women were taking an Uber home from downtown Minneapolis when an unidentified person fired multiple shots at the Uber vehicle.

The vehicle continued westbound, not aware of the shooting. The Uber was approaching Penn Avenue when more shots were fired into the back of the vehicle, hitting two of the women.

One woman was shot in the arm, and another was shot in the back. Police say neither of the wounds appears to be life-threatening. Both victims were taken by ambulance to Hennepin County Medical Center.

A portion of I-394 in the area was shut down to investigate the incident. Police are still searching for a suspect in the incident, and anyone with information should call CrimeStoppers at 1 (800) 222-8477.
