Police: 2 Shot, 1 Dead After Neighbor Dispute In New Brighton

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Two people were shot, one fatally, after a dispute between neighbors hit a boiling point in New Brighton Monday night.

According to authorities, residents called police to the 2500 block of Knollwood Drive around 8:30 p.m. in regards to a neighbor dispute. When authorities arrived, police found an adult male and female who had been shot.

The male was declared dead on the scene. The female was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center.

According to police, the male and female victims lived together and had a history of arguments with one of their nearby neighbors. Police said one of the ongoing issues between the neighbors was related to feeding deer.

Police said it was said neighbor that called police and turned himself in as the alleged shooter. He was identified as Neal Zumberge and is currently in the Ramsey County Jail facing charges for murder and attempted murder.

Authorities said the female victim in the incident had a restraining order against Zumberge, and he had previously been arrested at least once for violating that restraining order.

The names of the victims have not been released.
