Police: 2 Killed In Berlin, Wis.; Missing Girl Is Safe

BERLIN, Wis. (AP) — Two people were killed and one man was taken into custody in what Berlin authorities are calling a suspected double homicide that prompted a brief Amber Alert for an 8-year-old girl.

Police said Sunday morning that the girl has been found safe and was with relatives. She was uninjured. Authorities said they were questioning a man, whom they called a "person of interest" in the case.

Authorities said they were still investigating.

Police said in a news conference Sunday that authorities received a medical call about a possible female victim on the 200 block of Broadway Street at about 11 p.m. Saturday. They found a woman who appeared to have gunshot wounds. A man was found in an apartment, also with apparent gunshot wounds.

Both the man and woman were pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

During the investigation, authorities became concerned about the girl, and an Amber Alert was issued. Authorities found her with relatives in Marquette County.
