Police: 2 Hurt In Burnsville Stabbing, 1 In Custody

BURNSVILLE, Minn. (WCCO) -- One person is in custody after two people were stabbed during a dispute at a Burnsville home early Wednesday morning, according to police.

Officers were called at about 1:50 a.m. to the 13400 block of Xerxes Avenue on a report of a fight at a residence. Police learned while responding to the call that the fight likely involved weapons, including a gun and a knife.

When officers got to the scene, two men were spotted walking away with stab wounds. They were secured and transported to Hennepin County Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

As officers got to the residence where the fight took place, the front door and a window at the home had been broken. Police discovered one man and two women inside the home. A second male was found hiding in the basement of the home. Authorities say nobody inside the home suffered significant injuries.

Police say the stabbing likely resulted from a dispute that escalated between two parties that a familiar with each other and there is no risk to the public. Authorities say a suspect in the stabbing is in custody, and the incident remains under investigation.
