Police: Man, Woman Dead In Wis. Apartment Building Shooting

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Police in Wisconsin say two people have been found dead inside an apartment building after a reported shooting early Friday morning.

According to Rice Lake police, Barron County Dispatch received a 911 call on Thursday at around 10:26 p.m. The caller said she heard a gunshot and screaming from a location later determined to be 5 ½ W Eau Claire St. in Rice Lake.

Police officers responded and found a deceased female inside the apartment building. She was later identified as 37-year-old Cheri Fullarton.

It was reported that there were additional gunshots fired prior to officers' arrival. The building was evacuated.

Officers, along with the county's emergency response team, eventually found a deceased male, later identified as 32-year-old Justin Lowrie.

Police say numerous items of evidence, including a handgun, were collected from the scene.

Their bodies are awaiting a forensic autopsy.

The investigation is ongoing, but police say there is no further threat to the public.
