Teen Dies After Being Hit By Car While Crossing Inver Grove Heights Road

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A community is mourning the loss of a 15-year-old boy killed Saturday while crossing the street.
Police say the teen was struck by a car while crossing a road in Inver Grove Heights Saturday. Officers were dispatched to the 7500 block of Cahill Avenue just before 9 p.m., where they found the injured teen. He was taken to Regions Hospital, where he later died from injuries.
People gathered Monday night to honor the teen at a vigil near near Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Loved ones tell WCCO the victim's name is Caleb John Herrera-Shanley.
Police say the driver of the car that struck him is cooperating with law enforcement and did not show any signs of impairment. An investigation into the crash is on-going.
