Police: 1 Suspect Arrested, 1 Sought In St. Cloud Burglary

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- One suspect is in custody and another is being sought after a home was burglarized in St. Cloud last Saturday morning, according to police.

Authorities responded to a report of a burglary at about 12:45 p.m. at a house on the 500 block of 6th Avenue South. The home is being occupied by five male renters, ages 19 to 26.

When officers arrived, they learned that at about 5:30 a.m. while the five men were sleeping, two unknown men forced their way into the home through an exterior door. A 19-year-old resident of the home confronted the two suspects on the second floor. The suspects told them they were there for a party.

Police say the confrontation was not violent, and the two suspects agreed to leave the house. One of the suspects left immediately, while the other went into a different room, stole a 32-inch television and crawled out a window with the TV.

The renters installed their own video surveillance cameras, which captured the burglary. The video was turned over to the St. Cloud Police Department's Campus Area Services.

Authorities were able to identify the two men through the surveillance video. One of the suspects, a 17-year-old from St. Cloud, was taken into custody on Monday without incident and transported to the Stearns County Jail, where he's being held on suspicion of first-degree burglary.

The second suspect has been identified as 22-year-old Jacob Nhial Elijah of St. Cloud. Authorities are asking for any information leading to his arrest. Anyone with information should call St. Cloud Police at (320) 251-1200 or Tri-County Crime Stoppers at (320) 255-1301 or 1-800-255-1301.
