Police: 1 Injured, 1 Arrested In Maple Grove Shooting

MAPLE GROVE, Minn. (WCCO) -- One person was hospitalized and a man is in custody after a shooting in Maple Grove early Sunday morning, according to police.

Maple Grove Police were called at about 2:05 a.m. to the 17000 block of 89th Place North on a report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found a 29-year-old man in the basement of the residence with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Police also arrested a 34-year-old man at the scene, who was taken to the Maple Grove Police Department and booked on suspicion of first-degree assault and reckless discharge of a firearm. Authorities said the victim suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The Maple Grove Police Department said there is no further risk to the public and the incident was not random. Police have not released the names of either the victim or the suspect. What led up to the shooting remains under investigation.
