Plymouth Moves To Raise Minimum Age To Buy Tobacco

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Another Twin Cities suburb will snuff out tobacco sales to teenagers next summer.

Leaders in Plymouth voted Tuesday night to ban selling cigarettes to anyone under 21.

The change goes into effect next July.

Edina, St. Louis Park and Bloomington also recently raised the tobacco age from 18 to 21 in their communities.

Advocates hope the new rule leads to fewer people smoking, chewing and vaping.
