Plymouth Police Officer Struck & Injured

PLYMOUTH, Minn. (WCCO) – The Minnesota State Patrol says a Plymouth police officer was hit by an SUV Tuesday night while at the scene of a crash.

Sgt. Angela Haseman, 43, was struck around 10:45 p.m. on Kilmer Lane North, which is a frontage road along Highway 169. She was investigating a hit-and-run involving a downed power line and searching for live wires at the time of the incident.

The driver the of the SUV, a 22-year-old man who was not identified, said he didn't see Haseman, the patrol said. He was reportedly blinded by the flashing emergency lights from Haseman's squad and a second unit at the scene.

Authorities says after the driver realized he had hit someone, he stopped right away and stayed at the scene. For those reasons, he did not receive a citation.

Haseman was taken to North Memorial Medical Center with an ankle injury. She has since been released.

Haseman is well known in the community, having co-hosted a cable television show about policing. She's even competed in and won a few beauty pageants.
