Fatal Crash Closes Highway 169 In New Hope

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The northbound lanes of Highway 169 were closed Wednesday night in the northwest Twin Cities metro due to a fatal crash, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Authorities responded to the crash shortly after 5 p.m. on northbound Highway 169 at Rockford Road in New Hope. The State Patrol says the incident started when a semitrailer rear-ended a car on the highway which, in turn, rear-ended another car, which rear-ended another. The semi continued in the northbound lanes, rear-ending another car which hit another.

All in all, the crash involved six vehicles. The State Patrol didn't say how many people were killed or injured.

Motorists were detoured to Rockford Road while emergency crews assessed the situation.
