Plane Makes Emergency Landing For MN Woman In Labor

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A Minnesota woman who was flying from Philadelphia to Atlanta went into labor, causing the flight she was on to make an emergency landing in North Carolina.

According to a report from the CBS affiliate in Greensboro, Shaniqua Cherry was on American Airlines flight 611 when her water broke.

"My contractions were pretty bad leaving Philadelphia," she said. "I was just praying that I would land in Atlanta."

The plane made an emergency landing at Piedmont Triad International Airport.

Not long after -- in the ambulance ride, actually -- Cherry gave birth to a 7-pound baby girl, Nyla Lulu.

Cherry is in the process of moving from Minnesota to Atlanta, the report said.

After dropping off Cherry, the flight made it to Atlanta on time, according to American Airlines.
