Pitino Names Pomeday Director Of Basketball Operations

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – University of Minnesota men's basketball coach Richard Pitino announced Wednesday he's named a new director of basketball operations for the program.

Pitino named Nate Pomeday, a former Big Ten Conference player at Northwestern, to the Gophers staff. Pomeday was most recently an assistant coach at Oregon State.

"We are extremely excited about the addition of Nate Pomeday to our staff," Pitino said in a statement. "He has a wealth of knowledge and experience that will help us continue to grow as a basketball program."

Pomeday spent six years in the Oregon State basketball program and helped lead the Beavers to three postseason tournament berths. He assisted in all areas of the program, especially recruiting, scouting reports, game plans and working within the community and school boosters.

He replaces Josh Adel, who will remain on the Gophers staff as an assistant to Pitino.
