Minn. Company Creates Pistol That Looks Like Smartphone

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A Minnesota company, Ideal Conceal, has engineered a pistol that can be folded into a shape resembling a smartphone.

According to a CNN report, developer Kirk Kjellberg says he got the idea when he was walking through a restaurant and a young boy saw his pistol. He says that's when he thought that there had to be a better way to carry without bothering people.

Kjellberg says the gun cannot be fired in the closed position.

"Smartphones are EVERYWHERE, so your new pistol will easily blend in with today's environment," the company website states. "In its locked position it will be virtually undetectable because it hides in plain sight."

The double-barreled .380-caliber pistol will have a list price of $395 and is expected to be available for purchase in mid-2016.
