Pilot Suffers Non-Life Threatening Injuries In Rush City Plane Crash

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities said a pilot suffered non-life threatening injuries after a plane crashed at the Rush City Airport Saturday night.

The Chisago County Sheriff's Office received a report of a plane crash at the airport at about 7:13 p.m. When officers arrived, a 54-year-old pilot from Harris, Minn., was taking off from the Rush City Airport when the plane he was flying appeared to lose control shortly after takeoff.

Authorities said the airplane then made a hard landing, causing the landing gear to collapse. The airplane suffered significant damage in the crash, but the pilot suffered non-life threatening injuries. The pilot was identified as Laird John Mork. He was taken for Fairview Lakes Wyoming Hospital for treatment.

What led up to the plane crash remains under investigation.
