Pick-Up Truck Nearly Hits State Trooper In Chisago County

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A pick-up truck's close call with a State Patrol officer north of the Twin Cities metro on Sunday shows it's a good reminder to slow down on the roads now that we've had our first significant snowfall.

The Chisago County Sheriff's Office says the encounter happened at about 7:45 p.m. Sunday on Interstate 35 between Harris and Rush City. Dash cam video from a Chisago County Sheriff's Office deputy shows a State Patrol vehicle pulled over on the right shoulder of I-35 with the trooper standing next to the vehicle.

A pick-up truck in the far left lane enters the view and is traveling too fast for the snowy and icy conditions. The driver has to break for another vehicle, and the truck begins to fishtail right into the direction of the trooper.

The trooper bails, and the truck is barely able to correct itself just before it would have hit the State Patrol squad.

While there was no collision and there were no injuries, the close call serves as a good reminder to slow down now that winter is here.
