Phone Scammer Posing As Ramsey Co. Sheriff's Office

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Ramsey County Sheriff's Office is asking the public to beware of calls from a scam artist posing as a member of their office.

Officials say several citizens have reported receiving phone calls from someone asking them to settle up unpaid warrants by placing money on a prepaid card.

They say you should just hang up on the caller if they contact you.

They are investigating the calls, and the suspect may face criminal charges if caught.

Minneapolis Police warned residents of a similar scam just last week.
