Peterson Of Grand Rapids Is AP Player Of Year

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Avery Peterson of Grand Rapids is the Minnesota Associated Press Player of the Year for high school boys hockey.

The award and the AP all-state team were announced on Monday.

Peterson was selected by the Minnesota Wild last year in the sixth round of the NHL draft. He had 37 goals and 30 assists this season in 27 games. He has committed to play in college at Nebraska-Omaha.

Joining Peterson on the first team: Junior forward Jake Wahlin of White Bear Lake, senior forward Zach Yon of Roseau, senior defenseman Nick Wolff of Eagan, senior defenseman Luc Snuggerud of Eden Prairie and junior goalie Zach Driscoll of Eastview.
