Pete Bercich Named Hill-Murray Football Coach

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Officials with Hill-Murray High School announced Wednesday that former Minnesota Viking Pete Bercich has been named the school's next football coach and director of development.

Bercich both played and coached for the Vikings and spent time as the radio color analyst for Vikings football. He has 14 years of playing experience to go along with five years of coaching in the NFL.

Bercich played collegiately at Notre Dame and was as seventh round pick by the Vikings in 1994. He played linebacker and special teams for seven years for Minnesota. He retired from the NFL in 2005 and has been a frequent contributor as a Vikings analyst to WCCO-TV's Rosen's Sports Sunday.

Bercich will be at Hill-Murray on Friday as the school breaks ground for its new football stadium at 11 a.m. The stadium will be ready by the time the Pioneers open the fall season.

The Pioneers finished the 2015 season 0-9 after going 4-4 two years ago.
