Pedestrian Killed After Being Hit By Car In Downtown Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Slippery conditions due to heavy snow appear to have played a role in a fatal crash involving a pedestrian late Tuesday afternoon in downtown Minneapolis.

Minneapolis police say a woman was hit by a vehicle at 8th Street and Hennepin Avenue at about 4:45 p.m.

Witnesses told WCCO the victim was walking in the intersection when a driver attempted to stop, but could not and hit the woman.

The woman later died at Hennepin County Medical Center.

Police say the driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.
