Boy, 14, Hurt After Being Hit By Car On Wakota Bridge

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 14-year-old boy suffered non-life threatening injuries after being hit by a car on the Wakota Bridge Tuesday night, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Authorities responded to the accident at about 11:05 p.m. on New Year's Eve on eastbound Interstate 494 on the bridge in South St. Paul. When they arrived, a 14-year-old boy from Inver Grove Heights had been walking in the center lane on the bridge on eastbound I-494 when he was hit by a 1992 Buick LeSabre that was headed eastbound.

The State Patrol said the boy suffered non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the car, a 22-year-old Cottage Grove woman, did not have injuries documented.

The State Patrol said the accident is still under investigation with assistance from the South St. Paul Police Department.
