Pedestrian Hit And Killed By Car On St. Paul's East Side

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- St. Paul police are investigating the death of a pedestrian near the city's border with Maplewood.

A woman was struck and killed on Larpenteur Avenue East near the intersection of North Manton Street at about 5:15 p.m. First responders arrived to find her gravely injured, and she was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say she appeared to have fallen while crossing the street, and then was hit by a 2009 Kia. The driver stopped at the scene and is cooperating with police -- who say they don't think he was driving while under the influence.

The identity of the victim has not been released.
