Rep. Paul Thissen Joins Race For Governor

ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) -- Former Minnesota House Speaker Paul Thissen is running for governor.

The eight-term Democrat from Minneapolis made the announcement Thursday morning in the State Capitol Rotunda.

Thissen says he'll focus on "everyday people" facing economic changes in their lives, and help them get involved in changing policy.

"We don't need one big revolution in Minnesota to restore our economy and our politics," he said. "We need hundreds of small revolutions all across this state to address the real problems that people face in their lives."

Thissen joins a crowded field of DFL candidates for governor to replace Democratic Gov. Mark Dayton next year.

Dayton says he won't seek re-election.
