Patrol: Wrong-Way Driver Killed In Head-On Crash

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The State Patrol says a wrong-way driver died Saturday night in northern Minnesota after crashing head-on into another car.

The crash happened shortly before 11 p.m. on Highway 61 near Salaka Road in Lake County.

A Honda Civic was going north in the southbound lanes when it slammed head-on into a Nissan Maxima, the State Patrol said.

The Honda's driver was killed. Officials have yet to release a name.

Both people in the Maxima were injured, and the driver, 20-year-old Cole Dreschler of Cloquet, suffered serious injuries.

Road conditions at the time of the crash were dry.
