Patrol: 1 Seriously Hurt In Chippewa Couty (Wis.) Crash

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 19-year-old man was seriously hurt in a rollover crash early Sunday morning in northwestern Wisconsin, according to the Wisconsin State Patrol.

Authorities responded at about 7:09 a.m. to a report of a one-vehicle crash on 240th Avenue near State Highway 27 Estella Township. When officers arrived, a 2001 Mitsubishi Galant was heading westbound on 240th Avenue about a quarter mile west of Highway 27 when the driver lost control, vaulted from a driveway and landed off the road.

The driver, a 19-year-old man from Boyd, Wis., was airlifted to an Eau Claire area hospital with seirous injuries. He was not wearing a seat belt and alcohol may have been a factor in the crash, authorities said.

The name of the driver has not been released. The crash is under investigation by the Chippewa County Sheriff's Office with assistance from the Wisconsin State Patrol.
