Patrol: 1 Killed In Crash Involving Semi In Wisconsin

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Authorities say one person was killed after a two-vehicle crash involving a semi-truck Saturday afternoon in western Wisconsin.

The Wisconsin State Patrol responded to the accident at about 1:39 p.m. on westbound Interstate 94 at mile marker 95 near the city of Hixton. The city is located south and east of Eau Claire.

When officers arrived, a 2012 Volvo semi-truck owned by a company from Superior, Wis., collided with a 1995 Buck four-door being driven by a 41-year-old from Minnesota. The drive of the Buick, identified as Zertasha C. Jones, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi-truck, identified as 55-year-old Michael Dale Purdun of Antigo, Wis., was not injured.

What led up to the crash is under investigation by the Wisconsin State Patrol.
