Park Center Repeats As Class 3A Champion

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Ann Simonet made a pair of 3-pointers down the stretch to help Park Center win its second straight Class 3A girls basketball title with a 52-45 win over Marshall on Saturday night.

Mikalya Hayes had 13 points, while Hannah Schaub and Feyisayo Ayobamidele each scored 11 for the No. 2 Pirates (25-7).

Marah Mulso led fourth-seeded Marshall (29-3) with 15 points.

This was the second straight title tilt between the schools. Park Center beat Marshall 73-71 in three overtimes in last year's championship game.

A 3-pointer by Simonet gave the Pirates a 44-39 with 4:21 to play, and after two free throws by Sarah Buysse, Hayes scored from down low to regain the 5-point cushion.

After two more Marshall free throws, Simonet — who finished with nine points — swished home a shot from the left corner with 1:46 to play for a six-point lead.
