Paralympians Visit Golden Valley Rehabilitation Institue
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Paralympians like Chuck Aoki visited Courage Kenny Rehabiliation Institute in Golden Valley Saturday morning.
After shooting around with the kids on the wheelchair basketball team, he and the other Paralympians played in an alumni game at Carl Sanburg Middle School.
While Aoki hopes to inspire the kids, he says he learns something valuable from them, too.
"I learn, from them, the joy and the passion of the game," Aoki said. "I come here, and these kids are so happy. They're excited to be here. It just re-energizes you."
Aoki's going to need that energy -- he and the other athletes are training for next summer's Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro.
