St. Paul Business Owners Show Support For Paid Sick Leave

ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) -- St. Paul business owners voiced their support for a paid sick leave ordinance, and they're asking for residents to support the policy by doing business with them.

The "Shop Your Values" campaign encourages shoppers to spend money at places that provide earned sick time for their workers.

"One of the things small businesses can do that large corporations may struggle to do is have real relationships, real authenticity with our customers, authenticity with our employees, and certainly we are providing this benefit of safe sick time as a demonstration of that," Workhorse Coffee owner Shannon Forney said.

Minneapolis has already passed a sick leave ordinance. The St. Paul City Council is expected to vote on the issue at the end of the month.

For a list of St. Paul businesses that already offer paid sick leave, you can view an interactive map on the Main Street Alliance website.
