Packers, Lions To Honor Veterans At Monday Night Game

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — The Green Bay Packers say veterans and members of the military will be honored at Monday night's Detroit Lions game at Lambeau Field as part of the NFL-wide salute for Veterans Day.

Fans will have a chance to sign and send a holiday card to a service member in the Lambeau Field Atrium through halftime. The Red Cross coordinates the annual Holiday Mail for Heroes program. It's distributed more than 6.5 million cards for members of the U.S. Armed Forces, veterans and their families since the program began in 2006.

Prior to the national anthem, the Packers will recognize several Purple Heart recipients through Operation Fan Mail on the field.

A trained bald eagle will be flying inside the stadium while the national anthem is performed by the University of Wisconsin Marching Band.
