MINNEAPOLIS — A man was treated for burns he suffered after fire broke out at a northeast Minneapolis residence Thursday night.

Crews were called at about 9:35 p.m. to the home on the 600 block of Lowry Ave Northeast, according to the Minneapolis Fire Department.

Firefighters arrived to find the rear of the home engulfed in flames.

Crews reportedly had issues making entry due to "large amounts of personal belongings (piled) throughout the home," MFD said.

Instead of fighting the fire from within, crews instead attacked externally with an aerial water ladder.

The man who lived there was able to escape on his own. He was taken to an area hospital for treatment. His condition hasn't been released as of early Friday.

It is also unclear when the fire was finally extinguished.
