On Winter Break, Kids Jump Right Into First Big Snowfall In Twin Cities

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- With the first decent snowfall in a long time, we found kids of all ages playing outside today.

From cross country skiing, to sledding, to just taking a plain, old stroll around the lake, Twin Cities kids were taking advantage of the fresh few inches of snow and enjoying their winter break.

Meanwhile, the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board says it will take 10 consecutive days with below-freezing temperatures to get the ice rinks ready.

Cross-country skiers should be happy, though. The trails at Theodore Wirth Park and the Columbia and Hiawatha Golf Courses will be groomed on Thursday.
