Omnifest Begins Today At Science Museum

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A great white shark so close you could almost touch it. The cacophonous music of Stomp, blasting away at you from every corner. The eruption of Mt. St. Helens, so intense you can feel the earth shake.

That's what you'll have the chance to experience at this year's Omnifest at the Science Museum of Minnesota.

The Omnitheater IMAX screen is one of a kind, said Kim Ramsden of the Science Museum. It stands seven stories tall and nine stories wide. The size of the screen is matched by the size of the sound system.

Omnifest is the only time of year when the Omnitheater offers five movies simultaneously. The newest addition to the lineup is "Great White Shark," which Ramsden said was filmed by photographers who weren't even in shark tanks.

The other four films in the lineup are "Blue Planet," "Ring of Fire," "Stomp's World Beat" and "To the Limit."

Omnifest runs Tuesdays through Sundays, now through Feb. 28 at the Science Musueum. Tickets are $8 for adults, $7 for kids.
