Omar Brown, 49, dies after north Minneapolis shooting

MPD investigating 2 separate shootings

MINNEAPOLIS — Minneapolis police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened on the city's northside early Saturday morning.

At 5:30 a.m., officers responded to the 3500 block of Penn Avenue North following a ShotSpotter notification. The officers found a non-responsive man in a nearby alley who had suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Despite life-saving efforts by the officers, the man died about 45 minutes later at North Memorial Health hospital in Robbinsdale.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office identified the victim Tuesday as 49-year-old Omar Lamont Brown, of Minneapolis. 

Police say no one has been apprehended yet.
