Isanti Man Paralyzed In Hockey Game Leaves Rehab

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A Minnesota hockey player who survived a devastating injury on the ice headed home Wednesday.

Matt Olson slammed into the boards during a junior league hockey game in Chicago six months ago.

He suffered a spinal injury, leaving him paralyzed from the chest down.

In a statement Wednesday, Olson's family thanked his doctors and caregivers in Illinois and Minnesota.

He left a rehabilitation institute Wednesday for his home in Isanti.

A GoFundMe page set up for the former Totino-Grace High School star athlete raised nearly $200,000 for his medical care.
