1 Dead After Car Sideswipes Trailer On Hwy. 52 Shoulder

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – One person is dead after a car sideswiped a driver on the shoulder of Highway 52 in Olmsted County Thursday evening.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, just before 8 p.m. 65-year-old Mican N. Thach, of Rochester, pulled his Honda and trailer onto the left shoulder of northbound Hwy. 52 near Oronoco.

While Thach was on the shoulder, 52-year-old Todd S. Fierro, of St. Paul, was traveling northbound when he struck the trailer and Thach.

Thach was declared dead on the scene.

Fierro and Thach's passenger, 39-year-old Chantha Thach of Rochester, suffered no apparent injury.

Minnesota State Patrol, the Goodhue County Sheriff's Office and the Olmsted County Sheriff's Office are currently investigating.
