Ohio Mom Calls Target Out Over 'Girls' Building Sets'

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- An Ohio mother is calling out Target on Twitter because of what she saw in the toy section of her local store.

Abi Bechtel took a picture showing an aisle sign that lists "buildings sets" and "girls' building sets."

Bechtel, a mother of 3 boys, says gender should be removed from the way toys are sold. Since posting it on Twitter, it's gone viral and has been retweeted thousands of times.

"Because it makes it seem like it's so normal for building sets to be for boys, and oh by the way, girls can build stuff too we guess," Bechtel said.

While a Target representative says guests prefer "having a variety of indicators that can help inform and guide their shopping trip," the company has tweeted it will also share Bechtel's concerns with the right teams for review.
