Officials: Tractor Runs Over Minn. Teen

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 13-year-old boy from central Minnesota was hospitalized Tuesday after being run over by a tractor.

The incident happened shortly after 2:30 p.m. on a farm along the 27000 block of County Road 17 in Millwood Township, the Stearns County Sheriff's Office said.

Kurt Herdering, of Melrose, got run over by the front left tire of a tractor after he fell off of the machine when it began rolling backwards.

The tractor kept rolling until it ran into a shed, the sheriff's office said. The teen was reportedly alert and conscious after the incident.

An ambulance brought Herdering to Albany Hospital. His condition is not yet known.

Officials say the teen fell off the tractor when 45-year-old Tom Herdering, also of Melrose, attempted to take control of the machine from him. He also fell off when it began rolling backwards.
