Officials: Male, 16, Flees Police After Being Pulled Over For Stop Sign Violation

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 16-year-old male was arrested in St. Cloud for fleeing officers after they attempted to pull him over for violating a traffic stop Friday night.

The male faces charges of fleeing police in a car, criminal vehicular operation, DUI in the fourth degree, driving after revocation and stop sign violation.

According to police, the driver took off after officers attempted to pull him over.

The driver was going roughly 65 mph before he went off the roadway, struck a light pole and then a tree.

There were two passengers in the car.

Police said one passenger, 18-year-old Alanna Kay Schmatz, sustained non-life threatening injuries and was taken to St. Cloud Hospital Emergency Room via an ambulance.

The other passenger fled the scene on foot. Police are still trying to identify this person.
