Officials: 2 Women Die In Hog Barn Fire

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Officials in southwestern Minnesota say two women died Monday morning when flames engulfed a hog barn.

The Rock County Sheriff's Office said flames were reported around 9:20 a.m. at a New Horizon Farms barn, located just east of Jasper.

Crews from five fire departments responded to the blaze, which started when employees were pressure washing the barn.

Sharla Drew, 50, and Kristy Giesler, 32, both of Jasper, died in the fire, the sheriff's office said.

No hogs were inside the barn when burned down.

The State Fire Marshall Office's is investigating the cause of the fire.
