Officials: 1 Firefighter Injured Battling Mpls. House Fire

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – One firefighter was injured Thursday night when crews spent well over an hour fighting a three-alarm fire that spread through the walls and onto the root of a large home on Lake of the Isles.

The Minneapolis Fire Department says crews were called to the home on 2350 West Lake of the Isles Parkway just before 8:20 p.m. When they arrived, they found smoke in the basement, and that the home's occupants had escaped.

When crews saw that the fire had spread through the home's walls, they began an aggressive interior attack, the department said.

A second alarm was soon requested and buses arrived to provide shelter in the frigid cold.

The fire eventually made its way to the roof, after which a third alarm was called.

It was just after 9:45 p.m. when the crews got the fire under control, the department said.

The home sustained extensive damage, and one firefighter suffered a cut.

The fire's cause is not yet unknown, and it remains under investigation, the department said.
