October Sees The Tenth Top 10 Weather Day In Minnesota

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – This Top-10 Weather day wasn't just based on sunshine and 70 degrees.

"It was kind of spur of the moment. We looked at the weather cast and knew we wanted to do something," Ed Greene said.

Greene and his wife didn't play hooky, but they did take the day off to bike 10 miles.

With the temperature nearly 15 degrees above average, it wasn't a chilly bike ride for mid-October.

"No, not at all. In fact we overdressed. Which shows how much faith I had in the good weather," Greene said.

Greene wasn't the only one caught off guard.

With the sun shining on the water and the leaves popping with color, this was a day to take advantage of.

"And the sky is blue with wispy clouds. I don't know. I feel like I'm in a dream. I wish I could freeze it," kayaker Jan Wydra said.

It was a feeling shared by Ivy Booth.

"Once we get rain you can't rake leaves," Booth said.

Booth is using the Top-10 Weather day to get rid of her leaves.

But in a lot ways, she's kind of sad to see them go.

"Vivid red. Vivid orange. This year the whole tree is yellow instead of just part of it being yellow. It's like going up to New England for leaves. It's beautiful," Booth said.
