Obama Coming To Minnesota This Week

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- President Obama is heading to Minnesota this week after he was in the Twin Cities just a few months ago.

Obama visited St. Paul back in February and gave a speech the Union Depot about transportation. This Thursday, Democratic party officials said the President is headlining a fundraiser in Minneapolis on Thursday. It's being held at the home of Sam Kaplan, the former U.S. ambassador to Morocco.

White House officials said Obama is expected to talk about Minnesota's recent push to increase the state's minimum wage rate. By 2016, the minimum wage will go from $6.15 per hour to $9.50 per hour.

It's not yet known if Obama will hold any public events or if he'll tour any of the flood-damaged areas of the state. Several areas hit by heavy rain are suffering from flooding and mudslides.
